Tribute to Farhan (not my younger brother, but my older one)As the title suggests this post is a tribute to Farhan my friend from ITE Clementi. As you can see the text is set to largest and red in colour to fit the big man! I'm sure the text will be smaller when I do my next tribute. This Friday June 15th marks his departure for National Service. For many of us guys it is scary to go to the army but for this man I believe it is even more difficult. He's a really big guy and he's definitely going to suffer because he doesn't even participate in sports (convincing him to stand at the goalpost to block it took a long time -_-") but he's going in, determined and ready to lose weight.2 years back when I first joined ITE, I thought this dude really sucked in a sense that he took no notice of me and talked to Hidayaht instead. I was standing beside Hidayaht on the first day and he completely ignored my presence. It was the street soccer competition that kind of started us talking. The application needed 6 boys to participate and he surprisingly joined. We ended up winning the competition with him standing by the sidelines and watching. He got $8 voucher for standing. Isn't that wonderful? Being the "captain" (no one voted so what the hell), I decided to split our award equally amongst the participants despite having 2 people not even playing.Initially he was only close to Hidayaht but as time passed and with the departure of 2 members of our posse, Fabian Teo and Shah, I ended up tailing them haha sorry guys if I was a bother. Eventually I got to know them better and I treated them like close friends. I thought life was going to suck once Shah left but having those 2 around sure made things a lot better. Farhan is silent towards other classmates and doesn't speak unnecessarily but with me and Yaht he can ramble on forever and he always had funny videos from metacafe to show us. He loves the $1 nasi lemak and that was what he ate most of the time though he always stayed away from the wanton because it caused a stomachache once haha.He thought me cute words like "cemil-cemilan" which means finger-food haha that was funny. His humour is a bit weird, it's not like normal jokes but his delivery is highly potent and it can be funny as hell even when he doesn't really mean it. Oh and he will always be the first to catch my sarcastic jokes and he even spurt his grass jelly drink(was it grass jelly) on Fhasha's nasi ayam when I made a joke once and Fhasha was denied her lunch. During our free time at school, we would go to the self-access room and play online games like some motorcycle-ramp thing and shooting a cat as far as you can haha. Time really flies. It seems as though it was only yesterday when we were still doing these things. The best part when I got to know him better was my attendance became way better and when I felt like running off he would always start preaching in his Pak haji voice and tell me to not run and pass the module and stuff haha so I stayed because of him. It's good to have friends like these, who encourage you to do your best.I was also an outcast in the class, just like Fhasha but I'm glad both these guys eventually accepted me as a friend. Though I made rude jokes all the time at least they saw the funny side of it. If I've ever done anything wrong to you I would like to apologise. Went to his house to buka "break fast" and his mom cooked some great stuff and after I was done and bloated this guy still could eat like two more rounds. Oh and I went to his house once on the very last day before my project was due and I was supposed to do it on Microsoft Frontpage and when I reached there I found out he had no Frontpage! He gave me this trademark "Kau biar betol?Kencing manis!"Ended up doing the project at school the next morning, a few hours before lunch. It wasn't a school day for us but he accompanied me and guided me through it and thank God I passed. Thanks bro.The best time I've ever had with him was when I went fishing with him at Changi at this remote water-breaker. At that point I sat and started thinking to myself, I was so hated back in class and yet this guy genuinely asked me out to go fishing. I thought everyone in class totally hated me and my way of doing things, especially my talking, but Farhan actually asked me out to fish, knowing that sitting there requires a lot of chatting to kill time. It was the best fishing experience I ever had because I finally felt appreciated from someone in my class and knowing he bothered enough to sit and talk with me was really a defining part of my school life and after that day I went to school a happy person.Thank you very much bro, I really needed that. Plus I got to make him spill out some secrets haha but your secrets are safe with me don't worry. Oh and sorry for losing a few weights on that day and I HATE PUMPUN or however you spell those mutations. He is also talented with the electric guitar! Highly talented. Rock on bro!Best of all is he gives great advice and also listens to mine which I feel is really nice of him considering that he's one year older than me. I'm glad you got through that incident well and now you are ready for army I wish you well my brother. Do know that Hidayaht and me really appreciates you a lot as a friend and brother although we don't really show it. Thanks for making me stay in school and get through it and thanks for asking me out to go fishing. Thanks for all the treats you've treated me including the steamboat.I know you are prepared for NS and I'm proud of you bro. Our prayers are with you and please don't forget us after NS. Thanks for everything, especially for being a friend. Take care and all the best to you. *V takes off his hat to Farhan*
